The Magical World of Lotta Glybotskaia

Born in the mystical city of St. Petersburg, Lotta is a creator whose life has been an exploration of the uncharted realms of contemporary art. With over 15 years of experience as a designer and art director, Lotta's journey is enriched by her fascination with mysticism, symbolism, poetry, and psychoanalysis. This unique blend of influences has culminated in her striking tarot card deck, 'Obscuro', where each card becomes a bridge between the tangible and the subconscious, illuminating the delicate interplay between the visible and the hidden.

In 'Obscuro', Lotta captures a profound understanding of archetypes, inviting others to traverse the worlds crafted through her symbols and imagery. Art serves as a vessel for her visions, revealing worlds that were once known only to her. As she forges ahead, Lotta is also developing her second deck, 'Claro'. In contrast to the depths of 'Obscuro', 'Claro' embodies light and vibrancy, heralding a new chapter in her artistic evolution where illumination triumphs over shadow and vibrant hues replace the monochromatic. Through these decks, Lotta invites you to join her in exploring the intricate tapestry of human experience and emotion.

On Tarot Obscuro

In a unique moment, when the stars aligned in a mystical pattern, the world of magic and enigmas decided to reveal itself. It chose me, a humble keeper of secrets, to be the conduit of its design. Thus, the 'Obscuro' tarot deck was born – a key to unknown worlds and a mirror to the depths of our consciousness.

Each card in 'Obscuro' tells a story. Witches, magicians, and mystical beings, who have hidden in the shadows for centuries, finally decided to reveal themselves. They entrusted me with their images and tales, so I could bring them to life in the cards. These entities are not just characters; they are spiritual guides, ready to lead you on a path of self-discovery and revelation.

Creating each card of 'Obscuro' was a journey into the uncharted corners of my imagination and soul. I blended vintage elements with modern visual techniques, making each card a bridge between the past, present, and future. Thus, 'Obscuro' transformed into a unique deck, where each card is a gateway to a world of mysteries and knowledge.

Using a variety of techniques in the creation of the deck was extremely important to me. Applying technologies of the past (cyanotype), present (graphics and collage), and future (digital illustration, montage) allowed for the creation of vivid images that seem as though they were captured through a camera obscura. In my opinion, handcrafting in the creation of tarot is also a very important stage for each card to acquire its own magic.
