Never Too Late / Dave Cullern

The first change
takes time
and graft,
tonal shifts
upon great rocks
washed
by waves
picking away
at the cliffs
of our foundations

Postcard memories,
words limited
by space
and addressed
to our past,

shrunken heads
of who we became
in the days
outside our
memories gates

The tides
shift in small increments
as does our ability
to move
further and
further away
from the rocks
which degrade
and take
steps toward
a new version
of days past
and days future
and the very land
beneath our feet,
it shifts in ways
which appeared impossible
at times of change
in our limited yesterdays
as if they were only
a phase.
